Can I use the mat if I have a pacemaker/defibrillator device?

People with pacemakers or implantable defibrillators should use FIR mats with caution.

FIR mats should not be used in heating mode by individuals with pacemakers unless approved by their physician. They may use non-heating modes such as negative-ion functions only, if their doctor confirms it is safe.

In general, infrared heating pads are not known to interfere with pacemakers or defibrillators, but every device and every person is different. Always consult your cardiologist or device specialist before using an amethyst mat in heating mode.

For customers with pacemakers and/or defibrillators, we recommend:

  • use only low heat levels (about Levels 1–2 / 95–113°F), and only with medical approval
  • Brown Ereada® mats: negative potential / negative ion modes may be used if approved
  • Purple or Gemstone Ereada® mats: do not use PEMF (pulsed magnetic field) mode

If you ever feel discomfort, dizziness, palpitations, or unusual sensations, stop using the mat immediately and contact your doctor.

If you have a defibrillator, avoid lying directly over the implanted device area.

Because implanted devices vary, the safest approach is always to discuss mat use with your healthcare professional before beginning.
