During Your Session

1. Start Low and Go Slow

Begin using your Ereada® Mat gradually. This allows your body time to adapt to heat, pressure, and other functions.

  • Start with low temperature settings and short sessions.
  • For beginners, 20 minutes at Levels 1–4 is usually sufficient.
  • Begin with 1–2 sessions per week, then increase duration, intensity, and frequency slowly.

Avoid rushing. Overuse early on may cause discomfort, lightheadedness, or overstimulation. Cumulative effects are usually more pleasant and sustainable when sessions are built up gradually.

A common progression is to start at 30 minutes, adding 20–30 minutes every few days, as long as you feel comfortable. If you experience pain or discomfort, reduce session time or add cushioning.

2. Session Goals & Heat Levels

Different temperature ranges suit different purposes:

  • Low heat (86–104°F / 30–40°C):

Best for relaxation, sleep, meditation, and long sessions.

  • Medium heat (104–131°F / 40–55°C):

Commonly used for recovery and physical relaxation.

  • High heat (131–158°F / 55–70°C):

Intended for short sessions only, with proper hydration.

For bedtime use, choose low heat only and turn OFF stimulating functions such as PEMF or red light.

3. Using PEMF and Red Light

If your mat includes PEMF or Red Light:

  • For first use, try low heat + PEMF or red light for 20–30 minutes.
  • PEMF sessions usually auto-cycle; you may stop or restart them manually if needed.
  • Higher PEMF frequencies may feel more energizing; lower frequencies may feel more relaxing.

Some users prefer not to combine high heat with PEMF, as it may feel overstimulating.

4. Sweating & Hydration

It’s normal not to sweat during your first few sessions. Many people begin sweating after 2–3 sessions as the body adapts.

  • Do not extend sessions just to force sweating.
  • Stay well hydrated before, during, and after sessions.
  • Warm herbal teas may promote sweating more than cold drinks.

If sweating does not occur, keep sessions moderate and focus on comfort rather than duration.

5. Covering the Mat (Very Important)

Only use breathable, natural materials on the mat:

  • cotton, bamboo, wool towels or sheets
  • Ereada® protectors provided with the mat

Never place non-permeable items on the mat, such as:

  • rubber or foam toppers
  • yoga or camping mats
  • books, controllers, thick pillows

Blocking heat dissipation may cause overheating or damage.

Always cover the mat completely while preheating.

Partial coverage can confuse internal temperature sensors and cause controller malfunction.

6. Thermotolerance (Heat Adaptation)

Frequent high-heat use may temporarily reduce sensitivity to heat. Some researchers suggest spacing intensive heat sessions with rest days.

For most users:

  • 2–4 higher-intensity sessions per week is reasonable
  • Balance heat days with lighter or rest days

7. Protect Head & Sensitive Areas

  • Use a non-powered Ereada® Amethyst Pillow to protect the head and neck.
  • Avoid direct high heat on sensitive areas.
  • Never place solid or synthetic items directly on heated crystal windows.

8. Heart Rate & Overheat Awareness

If possible, monitor how your body feels during sessions.

  • Stop if you feel dizziness, nausea, itching, or rapid heartbeat.
  • Avoid continuing if your heart rate rises more than ~30% above normal resting rate.
  • Body temperature should not rise more than 1–2°C above normal.

9. Heat Overuse Warning

If you experience negative symptoms:

  • Stop using the mat
  • Reduce heat, duration, and frequency
  • Consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist

Use of the mat is your responsibility; medical guidance is recommended if you have health concerns.

10. Never Use Under the Influence

Do not use the mat while under the influence of:

  • alcohol
  • sleep aids
  • sedatives
  • recreational drugs

These substances can impair heat awareness and judgment.

Never rely solely on the timer for high-heat sessions while sleeping.
